Amazing trip, excellent way to see Jamaica's countryside and nature. It was a private trip so only 2 of us, this was great as it gave us some flexibility on what time to leave YS Falls. Drive took about 2 hours to get to the Black River, mainly due to potholes in road but they are resurfacing so journey time will start to decrease. Roads are winding in places so if you are prone to car sickness you might find the journey difficult although I am sure the driver would have stopped if we had asked. Take your own water for the journey. Our tour organiser/driver was great and told us a lot about Jamaica.Black River Safari: Our first stop and the highlight of the trip. Must have seen about 6 female crocs and 1 male. The scenery is breathtaking. Our guide was really knowledgable and showed us nesting birds and plant life whilst searching for crocs.The Black River was in the path of Hurricane Melissa so there was a lot of damage in the St Elizabeth area. The safari is recovering well, bathrooms are clean/modern and they are constructing a restaurant currently. You will be able to buy cold drinks but not a lot else currently so plan to eat at YS Falls.YS Falls: Basic changing rooms (no fee), good quality food available and plenty of pic nic tables both under cover and in the open. Take plenty of sunscreen and a towel.Views are amazing, you can walk up wooden steps beside the falls and there are a few seating areas on route if you need to get shade or take a break. The falls are not that high so it doesn't take long to get to the top. If you can't manage steps you can get amazing views from the bottom and use the swimming pools. We went mid May, it wasn't busy which made the whole experience better.

Beside the fact that we were picked up an hr later then our schedule time, I’d say every thing else about this trip was 10/10 experience. If you want to beat the crowds and have a private experience do early morning raft and preferably weekdays. We raft on 9-10am on a Thursday. We were the first raft out on lake and it was glorious. The water feels nice the views were spectacular. Our raft captain name Peter he very very nice and friendly. He was not pushy on things we didn’t want to buy or do. He is very informative on the area, different type of exotic plants , and history of the place. He slow down and let me take pictures and buy coconut. It was so refreshing. Our driver name Ken he picked us up from our hotel smooth ride straight to the raft. He prepared our fee and we have to sign waivers then go straight to the raft. Ps the compliment drink they give at the raft was just juice not bottle of water but it is available to be purchased if needed to take beer or water to the raft. Remember it about 45-hr rafting down the river depend on captain’s pace no bathroom until the end of rafting so use it before get on the raft. Bring cash where will be things we can buy like coconut and handmade souvenirs. Overall it was a fun excursion that I would recommend people to try.

I booked Darien for a tour to the Blue Hole, bamboo rafting, and local food tasting, and it was an unforgettable experience! Darien is the best—kind, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about Jamaican history and culture. The tour was affordable yet packed with so much adventure and incredible memories I’ll always cherish in gorgeous Jamaica. His recommendations were spot on, and the whole day was full of fun. I give the whole experience a 10/10! 1. Part of our activity wasn’t available (Bob Marley) We received an email and a text giving us alternate options, like another day or to add on the Blue Hole. We chose to add Blue Hole because we had other excursions planned! So, definitely liked that a lot!!! 2. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and even gave us a little trivia at the end of the excursion which was cool because it helps you actually listen and learn something! 3. Linda’s Kitchen was were we had lunch and the food was amazing!!! Did not disappoint! I highly recommend you book this excursion because you actually get your moneys worth!!

I highly recommend this experience for anyone interested.
They welcomed us in a friendly manner and passionately described their culture and way of life. They receive no help from the government, they depend on tourism and donations to survive. The transport was comfortable, with air conditioning, the driver was very good and very friendly all the time, as is to be expected in Jamaica (one love). They served us a small vegetarian dish, very tasty and well presented, I think it is a highly recommended experience.
